18 years and Fleshware Errors
So …….
About that reveal ‘eh? SUPRISE! Um, Noon EST today marks the 18th Anniversary of the 1st show on Hard Rock Radio Live. This was a several times a week thing at this point, with less than 10 DJ’s in total doing shows. But today was the day. My debut! Went live to a whopping 7 Listeners. Half of them staff. By the end I had almost doubled the number.
A record for a new DJ or something I guess, because I slowly started doing more and more shows. My first interview was with Cessation of Life Guitarist, whose name escapes me at the moment. We did some radio together later, had a lot of laughs too. But he helped me get my second interview. And no problems here at All - Oh no nope, nuh uh, none.
Gary Kramer of Kramer Guitars, revealing to the world 6 months before release - the Delta Wing guitar. Who my prior guest had been endorsed of. Had to submit questions before interview for approval etc. Nope no pressure at all. Even doing the interview, we eventually left the list and went on to how I went to do my interviews. [ Ironically at this time, talking to Celebrities and Musicians etc - like people instead of the canned usual stuff. Was NOT common yet - 2004 was WAY before Joe Rogan. ] Not implying, just saying was a bit ahead of my time.
After Gary, I interviewed a Hero of mine. Neil Turbin the Original Singer for Anthrax. Had a great interview - and even drunker interview. But that story deserves it’s own post. And the rest is as they say is history. [ or until I post more ]
And ahead of time is sometimes an odd understatement. So many people when I left HRRL [Hard Rock Radio Live] thought I was insane trying to be on multiple stations. After 4 years at one point I had 23 to 27 stations at any one time. Or more. BCNI FM and Jen Steele had a lot to do with that there. Another tale of it’s own. But through them as well I did a show called “The Friday Nite Party Machine” on KQCX FM Radio [ I think that was the station letters.] Small local classic rock show. But FM - and for me a feather. Later on I became CRTC Compliant, and FCC to some degree. End of the day, worldwide - multiple stations - multiple people.
Dozens and hundreds of stories here to tell. But because of my life schedule today. I must be brief in the tale. I will have more soon on this. But the sands of time wait for no one. Nor does the whip crack!
